You can renew items in person, by phone, or online.

To renew in person:

Bring your items and your library card to any Sonoma County Library branch.  You don't have to renew at the same branch where you checked the items out.

To renew by phone:

Call our automated system (TELECIRC) at 707-340-5196

To renew online:

Go to our website and click My Account to log in.

Click on Checkouts to see the list of items you currently have checked out. Click in the box to the left of each item you want to renew, or click in the box to the top left of the entire list if you want to renew all the items. Then click the Renew button.

You may renew materials three times. After the end of the third renewal period, the item must be returned to the library.

eBooks and Downloadable eAudiobooks can be renewed from within your Hoopla or Overdrive/Libby account.

I renewed this item three times, but it's still due in only three weeks!

Do not try to renew an item multiple times in the same day to add more time to the check-out period. This does not work. Each time you renew an item, it becomes due 21 days from the date you renew it -- not from the original due date. If you renew an item three times in the same day, it doesn't renew for triple the time -- it simply takes you to the maximum number of renewals.

Problems renewing an item?

The following circumstances will prevent an item from being renewed:

  1. You already renewed it three times, or
  2. Someone else has placed a hold on it, or
  3. You have over $100.00 in library fines, or
  4. The call number and location information indicates it is a "Lucky Day" copy, or
  5. It is a LINK+ item that does not allow renewals
