Hoopla content on a PC or Mac can only be streamed, requiring a constant internet connection. If you have the free Hoopla Digital app on a supported device, you can download movies, TV shows, eAudiobooks and music when you have a connection and then enjoy them offline. Books and comics automatically download as soon as you borrow them.

See details about compatible devices at hoopla help (click Supported Devices). Here are the basics:

Hoopla app icon

  • iOS — search for hoopla at the App Store
  • Android — search for hoopla in Google Play
  • NOOK HD/HD+ — search for hoopla in Google Play
  • Kindle Fire HDX — search for hoopla in the Amazon App store (for any Amazon device running Fire OS 5.0.0 and newer).

How to download movies, TV shows, eAudiobooks and music:

  1. After you borrow an item, you'll see its info screen.
  2. Tap the download prompt: Tap here to download or Download to your device.

Note: If you borrowed the item earlier or on a different device, go to your borrowed titles by tapping My Hoopla for iOS devices or by tapping Borrowed for all other devices (look here for help).

Next tap the item's title below its cover. If you tap the cover instead, the item will open. Tapping the title will take you to the info screen where you can Tap here to download.

The item will download; these are large files and can take several minutes. Once downloaded, the download prompt will now say THIS TITLE IS DOWNLOADED, with the option to delete it.
