What’s happening? The library’s digital magazines are moving from RBdigital to OverDrive and its app, Libby. This includes 3000 magazines from around the world in many languages and popular titles like Us Weekly, The New Yorker, National Geographic, Newsweek and Cook’s Illustrated.

Why the change?  This move is happening because OverDrive has purchased RBdigital.

When will I see magazines in OverDrive and Libby? Magazines will be in OverDrive and Libby starting February 19, 2021.

Will RBdigital just disappear right away? No. Magazines will continue to be available in the RBdigital app until March 31, 2021.

How do I browse or borrow magazines in OverDrive or the Libby app? Just log in to sonoma.overdrive.com with your library card number and PIN, or download and log in to Libby by OverDrive app on your smartphone or tablet. You can search for magazines and borrow them just like you would eBooks or eAudiobooks.

How many magazines can I borrow at a time? There is no limit to the number of digital magazines you can borrow! Magazines don’t count toward your checkout limits in OverDrive/Libby, so you can explore and borrow as many as you want.

How long can I keep magazines? The lending period is three weeks, the same as it is for eBooks and eAudiobooks.

Will the magazines checked out to me in RBdigital be transferred to my OverDrive/Libby account? Your borrowed magazines won’t transfer automatically, but you will have access to them in RBdigital until March 31st.

What about my borrowing history? You can see your historical loans in ZINIO. Either download the free ZINIO app or go to zinio.com. From the ZINIO app or website, register a new ZINIO account using the same email address you used to access RBdigital. Once registered, your previously borrowed RBdigital loans will be available in your account.
