What happened to the OverDrive App?

Answer

On November 13, 2024 the MP3 audiobook format was removed and OverDrive's desktop app for Windows and Mac is no longer being supported. Please download audiobooks using the Libby app instead.

On May 1, 2023, the OverDrive app was discontinued.  OverDrive is no longer supporting the OverDrive app and library patrons should make the switch to the Libby app.

  • The Overdrive app, used on iOS, Android and some Windows devices, is no longer supported. 
  • If you are using the OverDrive app on a Kindle Fire, the Libby app is compatible with the Kindle Fire.

Some changes to the process for recommending an eBook or eAudiobook to the Library:

  • The Recommend to Library (RTL) feature available in the OverDrive app and on the sonoma.overdrive.com was discontinued.
